Controlled atmosphere for pallets

Controlled atmosphere for pallets
For the conservation of single pallets in a controlled atmosphere, of small size fruit and vegetables (strawberries, berries, etc.), an economic system has been created, using a normal cold room. Each pallet is covered by a transparent PVC casing, equipped with passages and valves for introducing gas and for analyzing the air. The base of the pallet is closed by means of an airtight system to avoid gas exchanges with the external environment. An automatic system analyzes the components of the air inside each casing (carbon dioxide and oxygen) and introduces the conservation gas (normally CO2) needed to create a controlled atmosphere, guaranteeing the correct parameters for each product, in order to prolong storage times. The system prevents the formation of mold and preserves the fruit from weight loss, avoiding the loss of humidity. Each pallet is independent of the others, therefore it is possible to stop the storage in a controlled atmosphere at any time without damaging or opening the pallets that you intend to leave closed. In the case of a whole cell in a controlled atmosphere, when the door is opened, all the oxygen and CO2 values vary. Advantages of the system Possibility to extend the preservation of the products for several weeks or months in addition to the traditional storage in the cold room Economy of the system No need to prepare a cell in a controlled atmosphere Decreased weight irrelevant Modularity of the system Dimensions of each pallet: 1.0 m x 1.2 x 3.0 (h max) With this system, the strawberry conservation period increases by 5/7 days beyond the normal period which reaches up to about 7 days. For other small fruits, (for example blueberries) it is possible to reach even 3- 4 months of conservation.
